 The Bier

 

Dortmunder Kronen Export, 5.1%  On tap.  A wonderful golden bottom fermented fully rounded bier. Export is a dying bier style, being phased out due to the currentPils trend. Drink it while you can, soon it will only be a memory.

 

 

Krombacher Pils, 4.8% On tap. One of Germany's best.

Hövels Bitterbier, 5.5% On tap. Another Dortmund speciality, top fermented and copper coloured, it's a first cousin to the Belgian biers De Koninck and Palm. Also related to the British Ale family.

Paulaner Urtyp, 5.3%  On tap.  A "Round" Munich Export.

Paulaner  Münchner Hell, 4.9% On tap. A Munich Hell.

Paulaner Münchner Dunkel, 5.0% On tap. A Munich dark beer.

Paulaner Pils, 4.8% On tap. A Munich Pils.

Salvator, 7.5% On tap. A double bock beer.

Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier,  5.3% Bottled.  A yeasty wheat beer from Munich.

Paulaner Dunkel-Hefe-Weissbier,  5.3%  Bottled. The dark version of the above.

Paulaner Kristall-Weissbier,  5.2% Bottled. A filtered wheat beer.

Kloster Andechs Doppelbock Dunkel,  7.1%  Bottled.  A great dark bock beer from the "Holy Mountian of Bavaria.

 

König Pilsener, 4.9%  On tap. A world class Pils from Duisburg.

 

Diebels Alt, 4.8%  On tap. World's largest Alt bier brewery.  A  darkish top fermented bier, from the village of Issum.

Diebels Plato 13, 6.0%  Bottled. A stronger and hoppier version of the Alt.

Duckstein, 4.9 On tap. Top fermented red.blonde brew. 

Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier, 5.0%  Bottled.  A yeasty wheat beer from the Spaten Brewery of Munich.

Franziskaner Dunkel Hefe-Weissbier, 5.0%  Bottled. The dark version of the above.

Franziskaner Kristall Weissbier, 5.0%  Bottled. A filtered wheat beer.

Erdinger Hefe-Weissbier,5.3%  Bottled. A yeasty wheat beer from Erding in Bavaria.

Erdinger Kristall Weisbier, 5.3%  Bottled. A filtered wheat beer.

Orval,  6.2%   Bottled. A top fermented Trappist  beer from Belgium.

Chimay: the art of Trappist cheese and beer.

Chimay Red,  Bottled.  7.0%  A top fermented Trappist beer from Belgium.

De Koninck,  5.0%  Bottled. A classic top fermented beer from Belgium. 

Duval,  8.2%  Bottled. A top fermented Belgian golden beer with a beautiful white head.

Belle-Vue Kriek, 5.2%  Bottled.  A Lambic Belgian cheery beer.

Brauhaus Schacht 4/8 Mulvany's, 4.8%  On tap. An unfiltered Alt type bier, named after an Irish mining engineer who worked in this area in the 1800's.

Brauhaus Schacht 4/8 Ruhr Pott, 4.8%  On tap. A golden Pilsener bier.   

 

Borbecker Helles Dampfbier, 4.8%  On tap. A gold coloured bottom fermented "steam" bier, from Essen-Borbeck.

Borbecker Salonbier, 5.0%  On tap. A copper coloured top fermented bier.

Borbecker Zwickelbier, 5.0%  On tap. The unfiltered version of the above.

Stern Pils, 4.8%  On tap. A mild Pilsener bier, from Essen.

Gatz Alt, 4.8% On tap. A Düsseldorf Alt.

Also avilable during their seasons are, Märzen Bier, Fasten Bier, Maibock, Oktoberfest bier and Weihnachts bier.

 

The Food

German health food.

Good bier deserves good food. The following is a sample of the items offered on a bier tour.

Bauernbratwurst, 30cm. Bratwurst sausage, farmer style, with roast potatos.

Krustenbraten, Baked ham with sauerkraut, red cabbage and dumplings.

Kesselgoulasch, Pork stew, with potatos and paprika & farmers bread.

Zwiebelkuchen, Onion quiche with salad.

Bayrischer Wurstsalat, Regensburger sausage with onions and roast potatos.

Schwäbische Käsespätzle, Cheese noodles with ham and roast onions.

Linseneintopf, Lentil Stew.

Grünkohl & Metwurst, Green Cabbage and Met sausage.

Hünnersuppentopf, Chicken Stew.

Schnitzel Mit Tomaten & Käse, Pork Steak with cheese and tomatos, & chips.

Kassler, Baked pork chops with sauerkraut, red cabbage and dumplings.
